About Mrs. Root

Mrs. Root currently teaches four science classes in the Galeton Area School District--seventh grade life science, eighth grade earth science, ninth grade physical science, and an elective environmental science class. She lives in Wellsboro with her husband, two dogs, two cats, two rabbits, and several fish.

Mrs. Root earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Pittsburgh. While studying for her bachelor’s, she worked for the U.S. Geological Survey, conducting surveys of freshwater mussels in the Delaware and Susquehanna River Basins. Following graduation, she worked for several years under a wildlife biologist, performing various wildlife and habitat surveys as part of the environmental review process for the natural gas industry. She later earned her master’s degree in education from Mansfield University and joined GASD in 2014.

Mrs. Root’s hobbies include gardening, playing the organ and piano, biking, and hiking.
