About Mrs. Kosa

I was born and raised on a dairy farm outside Ulysses and am the oldest of eight children. I was very active in the 4-H program in my teen years and also volunteered as a Candystriper at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. After graduating from Northern Potter HIgh School, I attended and graduated from Ropert Packer Hospital School of Nursing and later attained a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Alfred University. I married my High School sweetheart and began a family during the years I was employed at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital as Head Nurse in the ICU/CCU. Later on I worked as a Home Health Nurse, Office Nurse and Substitute School Nurse. Living and raising five children on a dairy and crop farm has been a joy and a challenge. My children were blessed to have both sets of grandparents close by and they visited them often as my nursing career and continuing education often kept me away from some responsibilities at home. Currently my adult children have blessed us with eight grandchildren (and counting), thereby keeping me active in the bleachers and sports fields at Northern Potter and Coudersport. When not at a game, you will find me in the garden or canning and freezing produce from the farm or garden. I also enjoy being outside, riding my "gator", reading Christian Historical Fiction, gardening, and jersey cows. Faith, Family, Farming and Fun are most important to me. I do so enjoy the children and families I have come to know and love at my second home, Galeton School. My responsibilities as a School Nurse are varied and range from applying bandaids and administering medication to providing a change of clothing and listening to student frustrations. Carrying out State Mandates such as Vision, Hearing, Dental and Physical Screenings encompase a large portion of my time as well as the daily duties of illness and injury care in supporting the physical, emotional and mental well-being of students and their families.
